Shoot, Minnie, Shoot! The Forgotten Champions is a docudrama shot entirely on HD. Set in the early 1900’s, it tells the true story of five unlikely athletes and their unconventional coach.

The girls - all Native American - came from different tribes and various situations. All were sent to Montana’s Fort Shaw Indian School for the express purpose of becoming “more white”.

It was the end and the beginning of their lives all at the same time.

The girls lived between two worlds—the Indian world, and the white world, but they found their true selves on the basketball court. They played and defeated opponent after opponent—male and female, high school and college. And after the game? They performed dances- traditional European and Indian- for the crowd.

Their athleticism culminated in a game at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair where they were crowned the Fair's champions and effectively the First World Champion Basketball Team.

Shoot, Minnie, Shoot! The Forgotten Champions, is told through the spirit of Minnie using recreations and historic photographs.

This is an amazing, true story of tenacity and perseverance. The story is legendary in the Indian world. Minnie and her teammates trailblazed a pride and a spirit that is still evident today in women’s Native American basketball.
